A Very Vintage Christmas

Have had a super fun time this year creating wonderful Vintage Christmas items
for my family and myself.  Because I took over the living room with the fireplace for my Studio,
it created a limited amount of space for a large floor tree and fireplace display of stockings.  My home is just shy of 1700 sq ft and has 4 bedrooms.  So you can understand, it's not huge, no huge kitchen or family room.  Which I am Totally ok with.  Bigger houses = more to clean and more overall expense.  No thanks!

Hope you enjoy the show and tell...

Overall view of Christmas from the kitchen...

I threw in a shot of our "new to us" Dining table and chairs.
Just scored off of Craigslist for $150...already painted this fab color,
with two extension leaves, extra legs for support and an old school folding
cover to protect it.
I have been looking for a table to fit this small space ever since
I moved my studio from it.

Exceptionally happy with the colors.

I painted Santa on a 2ft by 3ft canvas...he is also glittered with snowy glitter, but
is hard to see in these pics.

My vintage ornament tree, oh how I LOVE thee.

My Mom bought the Santa candle when I was a kid.
I found all the other elements this year to create this vignette.

FUNKY lit faux candle and wacky plastic candle wreath compliments
of local thrift stores.  I added the bulbs and pine to the wreath.

Tinsel tree from Home goods, clearance because it was missing it's base,
which was fine...I wanted to put it in a vintage pottery piece anyway.

Ornaments are all vintage or made by yours truly.
Old mercury glass garland is so pretty!

Is this mouse climbing a ladder cute or what?

LOVE old ornaments!!!

My little Christmas Winter Wonderland Cottage.
Maybe I will have one like this for real one day!
A lot of work, but oh so fun to make!

Tell me...who doesn't LOVE Target's dollar bin????
"let it Snow" sign...One buck...oh yea!!!

Crochet tree was a gift to my daughter when she was born
13 years ago. I popped in on a vintage pottery piece and added
the bulbs...so sweet.

This fabulous cottage is musical and my Mother made it years ago in a ceramics class.
Just LOVE it too!

Finally have a Jewelry tree picture.
It lights too.

Painted "Believe" the other night to fill in the space
and balance it all out.

Funky Reindeer holds precious ornaments my kids made in school
over the years.

Since my fireplace is in my Studio...thought
it apt to hang our stockings on our family tree.

My Nana who is 87 years old, spent years making these and about 40 more stockings
like this for our entire family.
Such a talented lady...and patient for details.
about 60 hours for each stocking.

My talented Mum also made this darling snowman one year.
Isn't he sweet?

Tall snow globe by me...small ones by cost plus a few years back.
altered by me...

Recently picked up the feather tree at a show and hung my
collection of vintage angels on it.

So, there you go!

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you have seen the progression of some
of these projects.  Oops, forgot my front door wreath...oh well.

Now that I am done decorating...I guess I better get
to buying some presents, finishing custom orders, making a few gifts,  baking cookies and wrapping.

May you and yours Have a Wonderful Christmas!!!
XOXO,
Lisa

Holly Jolly Giveaway!

I'm two days home from The Vintage Marketplace in Rainbow, Ca.  What a wonderful show it was.  Even though it rained Saturday, loyal customers came out to support us and shop.  The show continued on Sunday, but I had to leave Saturday because I had a play date with grandson.

I came home with a lot less (thank you my awesome customers), but still had some of my Christmas pieces since I was a crazy lady and made so many.

Sooooo, in the spirit of Christmas I am going to do my first EVER giveaway!
And because I want to really have fun, I am giving away 3, yes THREE things.
To Three different people of course.

First off will be one of my 2014 Christmas Cupcake Girls.
Second year I have made these, a pretty popular item.

So, why not give one away, Right?

All hand painted 1930's doll, with a paper clay sculpted cupcake on top.
She is so sweet and stands a bit over 10 inches tall.

Second item to be raffled is a snow globe.
My Sweet paper clay snowman sculpture on the interior.
Soldered topper.
This cutie also stands about 10 inches tall.

Lastly is this year's tiny cupcake ornament.
These are so sweet and are about 3 inches tall.

SO...the "deets"... Leave a comment here on my blog or on my Facebook link
that will feature this blog post.
On Monday December 16th, Emily and I will draw the names from a hat!
YES...the old fashioned way.

I will announce the winners on the blog and Facebook and ship them off.
My only condition, sadly is that it is a U.S. and Canada giveaway only.
International shipping is just too high for me at this time.
Sorry.

Good luck!
Will announce the winner in one week!
Merry Christmas!
XO,
Lisa

Vintage Ornament Wreath

have always wanted one if those really cool, over the top elaborate Vintage ornament wreaths. Never have taken the time to collect the necessary elements to create one. But this year, the day after a show at Madam  Palooza in Murrieta, my good friend Rita Reade and I hit Granny's Antiques in Temecula. Rita really started it. She found a booth that had the cutest gold glittered ornaments with small Japan angels on each one. She says to me in her Sicilian accent. " Here, you need these. They are so you!" We happened upon this booth as the sweetest elderly gentleman was unpacking boxes of ornaments to put out for sale. Jackpot.  The time was finally right. I bought several boxes from him. Still not enough, I hit eBay for three more lots and found a few more random boxes from the thrift store.

Starting with an 18 inch styrofoam wreath, I wrapped it with silver tinsel garland. Problem was, I bought the garland at dollar tree and what crap is was.

Skinny and falls apart...ugh. Now what?

It's 4:30 in the evening and I really want to get this wreath made while I am motivated to do so. My favorite thrift shop closes at 5:00. So Emily and I race to see if they have silver garland. Bingo! Silver and red garland intertwined. 1.50! Yay! Unravel the two colors and it is Just enough to wrap the wreath entirely. Hot glued the garland here and there plus double wired wrapped the wreath with floral wire.

Saving the red garland for another idea that popped in my head this week.

Figuring how to start was really hard and have to say I was kind of intimidated at first. The thought of hot glueing some ornaments that are as old as the 1920's seems almost wrong to me, but what the heck! Am after all most know for the dolls I cut up and re-work. Lol.

Knew I would be short ornaments, so pulled some of my own that were about 10 years old to add to the wreath.  Pretty black hand painted ones, I just love. The other painted ones are vintage and from Bavaria.

This seriously takes some time. I had two hot glue guns going, because each bulb has to be glued and held to the wreath until the glue cools. After the first largest back row, I got my groove and it flowed.

If fact, got so in the groove that I forgot to take more process pictures...oops.

6 hours & 50 mini glue sticks later, all the while singing Christmas carols with Bing and Dean on Pandora, I finished.

Here are some close up shots of my faves.

Lastly is the cute little Volkswagon ornament I found...a love bug. My first car was a bug and I so want Santa to bring me another one of these years!

Here is another shot of the finished wreath hanging above my desk in my studio. I am so so happy with it!

Merry Christmas friends!!!

Oh, it is now 24 inches wide.
