I got a present!

Don't you love it when you get a box in the mail?

I know I didn't order cereal, so what can it be???

Hmmm...the box is marked "FRAGILE"...I wonder what it is?

I open the box to find little eyes staring back at me...

Whooopeee, OOOhh look, sad little babies needing some TLC...

Even though typically, it is something I have bought on ebay and I know
full well what is coming, it is still exciting to get a box and see the treasures inside.

These little darlings will get new lives and accompany me to Glitterfest, hopefully finding new homes to be loved!

We will see you there!

Serving up Bling!

So, here is a sneak peek at my Hair Flowers and Belt Buckles...

I think they are sooo what Marie Antoinette or Madame Pompadour would
be wearing with Jeans if they were alive today!

Love

Once upon a time there was a Daddy who waited a very long time to get married and have a child. He dreamned of having a daughter. He met this lovely lady who had three sons from her 1st marriage. They were great friends and fell in love after a year of knowing each other. He was a country cowboy, pure of heart and the most talented craftsman she had ever known. They really were a perfect match. She the artist, he the craftsman. They decided to get married and had a daughter together. Her name is Emily and she is the Apple of her Daddy's Eye.

Daddy and Emily on her 2nd Halloween!

John and Mommy always wanted to build a playhouse. They drew up plans and were getting ready to build it when the Daddy got sick. It was November of 2003, Emily was 3 years old when her Daddy died. The little family was very sad and they still talk about Daddy and know he is watching down on them. Mommy was vary strong and knew she couldn't let her 4 children down. When the dust settled, Mommy sold Daddy's Old 1971 Aqua Ford Truck and with the money, she bought Emily this darling Play house.

It is now now the smallest studio in the world, complete with electricity, where Mommy and Emily create art together. It is aptly called Daydream Cottage, because we all need a place to dream.

BFFs are the best treasures!!!

Okay, so BFF is soooo, todays teenie bopper saying.
And as much as their abbreviated text messaging can be annoying...
such as...ttyl, omg, u, r, bfn, etc. BFF is so "oh my God"
which, Hello you young whipper snappers, we coined that phrase, like
in the 80's. Duh! "Like oh my god, gag me with a spoon."
You do not own "OMG", so I feel quite justified in borrowing BFF.

LOL!

So, I have digressed, I am a 43 year old mother for crying out loud.

Back to the subject at hand. My BFF, Kathy, and I were out shopping about a year
ago. We shared a space in an Antique store in Ontario, Ca. Treasures and Junk
(http://www.treasuresnjunk.com/)

All of you Flea Market Goddesses out there, I know, understand the unspoken code
when Junking with a BFF. If she spots a treasure first, it is hers. If she decides not to take it, you can then snatch it. Any slight hesitation means it's up for grabs.
Not from her hands of course. That would break BFF Antiquing etiquette.

So it went this day we were shopping at T&J. Kathy hit this one row first and spotted, like the coolest piece of furniture that we had both ever seen. This funky almost Gothic looking Victorian piece. She decided to buy it.
I patted her on the back, happy that this treasure was going home with one of us.

A year had passed and Kathy couldn't find the right place for it in her home. She decided to try to peddle it, stopping at my house to complain about how everyone wanted to low ball her on her treasures. Thank goodness is all I can say.

We swapped for it. You know you have all swapped with a BFF for one treasure or another. I am designing/painting a dress form for her in exchange for this funky piece which has the perfect home at the end of my hall in my entry way.

Behind it is a great old door that I painted as well as the coolest jack o lanterns I scored at Joann's today.

In the end. Our BFFs are the greatest treasures of all. What would we do without our Vintage Soul Sisters cheering us on?

Peddling my Gypsy Wares

Well, the next three weeks will be a creative whirlwind and I just love whirlwinds!
It's like an "E" ticket to a creative journey. Next Sunday, the 27th of September, come join me and some other very talented ladies at Out of the Blue in Solana Beach ( www.shesellsseashells.com). If you have never visited the Cedros District in Solana Beach, you are missing out. Fabulous upscale down town, with an Antique store and some other great shops, especially my friend Debi's store Out of the Blue. Below is the fabulous flyer the Erin designed. (www.ErinPettitDesigns.com)

On October 8th I will be heading to a Woman's Conference locally near me in Fontana to sell just my Jewelry Line. http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=188360
I am looking forward to this event and not just selling but hearing what the speakers
have to say.

Thirdly is Glitterfest on October 10th. 50 Artists in attendance, a pretty impressive group of ladies that I am excited to participate with. http://www.glitterfest.com/index.html

SOOO much fun. Back away from the computer...and OFF to my Studio! Darn! I have to feed & drop the kiddies at school first of course!

Carpe Diem!

Paintings

I painted murals and antique furniture for over 10 years. After my husband died, I got tired of painting. It lost its lustre for me, a lot of things did. I was always afraid to paint on canvas. Not being formally taught (have never taken an art class), I was always intimidated by the "fine art" crowd...if you catch my drift. Recently, Debi from Out of the Blue in Solana Beach visited my home. She was so complimentary about my living art studio (there is crazy stuff all over my house) and I think she was ready to hit me for not painting more. So, here I will post a few of the paintings in my home. Debi has encouraged me and I am working hard to produce some for the Flea Market Boutique and for her shop on the 27th.

Thanks Debi...I am painting again!

More stuff

Well, I don't know what I like more...Dress forms, doll heads or jewelry.
I just love marrying items that otherwise you wouldn't think go together.
Am doing a Flea Market in Solana Beach on the 27th of September at Out of the Blue...these babies will be for sale...unless someone snatches them up before then.

Will be posting my other show information this week. Flea Markets, a Woman's conference, Boutiques...and MORE! Hope to see you at one or more of them!

xo,
Lisa

FUN Stuff

Things have been so busy that I have really had little time to blog.

Met a lovely lady who commissioned me to paint a sign for her. Renee is starting a oh so French Chic business in Solana Beach at the Antique Store there. Her sign...

I have painted many a sign over the years, but don't do it so often any more. It was nice of my friend Sheri (http://www.sheri4sure.com/displayitems.asp?categoryid=8) of refer her to me.

I have also been signing up for shows and making jewelry like a madwoman. My best selling bracelet...

Like Eye candy to be sure. I sell out of these FAST!!

Recently I have done some shows Very far south of here, south Orange County and North San Diego county. My new Buddy, Debi at Out of the Blue in Solana Beach is becoming a fast friend and has an amazing store with amazing talent and I am so happy and honored to be a part of her store and her end of the month Flea Market. Debi's site...https://shesellsseashells.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=64&osCsid=4a2ec9e3e9a33fb7840323f2d206ff03
